Drag Race in Estonia?
Hello
I am writing You from Lithuania. My friends and I are very interested in DragRace in Estonia. Could You tell me when will be main drag events in Estonia and briefly describe them? I have found this list, but as I can not read Estonian, I dont understand it:
10.05 Raadi I etapp
24.05 Speedest
31.05 One Mile Challenge, Tapa.
21.06 Raadi II etapp
12.07 Haapsalu lõppkiirusvõistlus
26.07 Raadi III etapp
09/10.08 Hiiumaa
23.08 Haapsalu
06.09 Raadi IV etapp: Nightrace
Could someone briefly describe them and add new events?
I hope this year it will be ~10 cars from Lithuania.
Thanks

Hello
Maybe You could also write distance? Will all dragraces will be 1/4?
Because in Lithuania it is common that dragrace is 1/8 We have no dragraces in 1/4. So many people would protest and maybe wont participate in Lithuanian drags.
What about distances in top speed events?
Thanks

All dragstrips are 1/4 mile.
In top speed events we use 1 mile distance. |

Jonas,
Hey, nothing wrong with 1/8 mile, big acceleration is over and the speed is about 80% of 1/4 and it helps to keep the costs down:
1. Engines are on high revs froms 1/8-1/4 and thus about three times more likely to blow up.
2. If the racetrack is prepped, 1/8 is only half of 1/4
BTW, difference of 1/8 and 1/4 elapsed times is about 1.56
Take care |

Partel,

I know this, bus slicks are not allowed in Lithuania (even DOT legal). My car is FWD and I have 60 feet in 2,4-2,5 region. My trap speed are better in 1/8 mile. So if it there 1/4 mile I should beat my oponents.
My time was
9,076 131,21 1.328 NO 2.528
BMW M3 best time was:
8,951 126,75 1.211 NO 2.242
H,, Luht audi 200 time was:
8,661 128,4 0,581 NO 1.995
Results are from qualification of Klaipeda drag 2002.
I need better tires and better launching. I think I could have 2,2-2,3 60 feet.
Also 4WD cars on street tires have huge advantage over 2WD.

Do you have drag radials? It's really hard to compete in the 1/8 if you do not 60 ft well, no matter how much power you have. A little better chances in the 1/4. I haven't run on regular street tires seriously for many years, but the coming summer I will try. On a good track high 1.7's -low 1.8's should be in reach. Hopefully. Ten years ago I run 1.93 on 205's, but had a worse weight dsitribution and way less power. Which class will your car fall into? |

Is that 1.328 reaction time??
Anyway, as Jyrki said, 60 ft is everything, if FWD cars can't have at least D.O.T. slicks, no way they can be competitive with 4WD, no matter how much power they have, it would be just a tire smoking show!

In addition to what LaSa said:

26.07 Raadi III etapp
06.09 Raadi IV etapp: Nightrace
Drag race competitions which take place in Tartu, Raadi airfield. Those are core races of the season, most competitive and most popular among serious racers. Here you will see all local fastest cars + and often also some pretty decent rides from Finland. If you have to choose, I would reccommend those races. Nightrace has been especially spectacular during last two years.
More infomation about Raadi events you can obtain from
http://www.dragracing.ee:88/
Information in English will be added before the season kicks off. Meanwhile you can check last years results under "tulemused".
quote: 24.05 Speedest
This you probably know or even have participated, more show less go.
quote: 09/10.08 Hiiumaa
23.08 Haapsalu
Drag race. Hiiumaa competition takes place first time, so can't comment other than it's beautiful place and track should be in good condition as it's located in fairly new (operational) airfield.
Haapsalu is second attempt for organisers, first time was last year and then organisational side was bit lacking, hopefully it will be better this year. If you need nice timeslip, then Haaplsalu is the place, it's fastest track here due to good grip compared to Raadi or other tracks.
quote: 31.05 One Mile Challenge, Tapa.
Top speed race, fastest in the end of 1 mile course will win. Power and aerodynamics rule here, traction and weight is not that important. You can seelast year's results here. Latvian racers have participated in this race in every year, we would be glad to see Lithuanians also.
quote: 12.07 Haapsalu lõppkiirusvõistlus
Also top speed race, organised first time. Probably the same format as OMC, can't say for sure.
If you have any other questions, let us know.
I would appreciate, if you could forward this information to other racers in your country as well. We would be glad to see some fast cars from Lithuania here.
As said already, slicks and roll-bars are allowed, helmet is mandatory, car must be registered and have valid inspection. If I remember correctly, removing the seats, interior and other such stuff is also ok. |

If these 1.328, 1.211 and 0.581 are indeed the reaction times (what they seem, when you look Luht's 0.581), you have to work on your launch, not the traction. Hit the 0.5** reaction time and you have 60ft pretty good. |

kvalifikatsioonis on poogen, mis r/t on - arvestatakse ainult puhast sõiduaega. mitte, et see tulemus hea oleks...
ja r/t ei mõjuta 60-ft aega mitte ühestki otsast. |

yes these are reaction time. This was qualification. So reaction was not considered. Only elapsed time matters position. In elimination my reaction times were better |

I'm in Vilnius time-by-time because of work, may-be we could meet sometimes and I can tell you more about local scene here. Drop me a mail, if your'e interested. |
